REBALANCE

There are some seemingly insignificant, prompts that tell us it’s time to rebalance. It’s the ever so slight but impactful changes from our “norms” to some undesirable and unacceptable place on our personal expectation scale.  So gradual that it is not immediately apparent, just like weight gain or loss. We stop listening with intent to those personal nudges that says- get back to your center, you are too far left or right, of whatever your center is.

It’s that awkward self-talk with those nagging, irritating questions.  The ones that come in the stillness of the night or early in the morning.  They climb into the car with you to disturb what should be a peaceful ride. The many “whys” that sounds like, wait a minute why are you spending so much money? Why so many visits to (add your favorite restaurant)? Why are you craving retail therapy? What’s up with little or no savings?  Why are you replacing lack of love, attention, recognition, appreciation with material things?!  Sometimes the nudge is - it’s time to get walking, start eating right, that dress just isn’t fitting like it used to when you were the fabulous you. Are you feeling those aches and pains? It’s the sign that says your self-care needs some immediate and deliberate attention.

Saturday, May 2, 2020 is next session of the three-part series in Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF’s) virtual conference.  It’s about how we manage our finances, get on with our exercise routine and practice proper nutritional habits.  These are three critical elements to keep balanced so we don’t fail.  You’ll enjoy a moderated discussions by our host extraordinaire, Maxine Reyes, as she guides our accomplished panelists, who promise to leave you “wid nuff tings” to do.

There’s more! At the end of the discussion, celebrate the second virtual scholarship presentation featuring JWOF’s first scholarship recipient as she shares her remarkable post JWOF scholarship journey that’s filled with amazing accomplishments, de young people need to hear too. Then with your favorite drink and dancing shoes or barefoot, stay for the happy”her” hour.  Plan to browse, and purchase from several hand-selected vendors; we bring you the best from Jamaica, and here locally.

It’s free! It’s from home, by the pool, on the patio or veranda, under the mango tree in your own yard, it’s wherever you choose!  Make it a date to join (register at jwoflorida.org) or continue with us (no further registration required) at the second of the three-part series of JWOF’s Virtual Women’s Empowerment Conference.

In the first session the panelists shared well received, immediate and impactful strategies on how to reclaim yourself.  Missed it? The must-hear recording is available at https://www.jamaicanwomenofflorida.com/ .  While you are on our website, read about the panelists and peruse the wide array of vendors.

Ready, registered, rebalancing is on the way this Saturday, May 2, 2020 starting at noon. Invite a friend or two, men and none Jamaicans welcomed. See you there!
